i have just built a new system with a 250Gb S-ATA hard
drive,3.2GHz CPU, 1Gb ram and all other components are new
and of current spec. Software, i have an older version of
windows 2000 prof. from my previous system that i have
installed on the machine but the hard drive is showing up
as only 125Gb approx. i have downloaded and installed SP4
and all current relevant updates but to no avail. Now,
occassionly my machine displays "insert disk into hard
drive?" and other "worrying" messages. Can any one help?
Do i have to update the registery as per instruction :-
Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Atapi\
Parameters
On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the
following registry value:
Value name: EnableBigLba
Data type: REG_DWORD
Value data: 0x1
Quit Registry Editor.
or is there something else i must do???{in laymans english
if at all possible .}
