Runtime errors?

I was using my son's notebook that has XP and noticed that just about ever
website I tried to access resulted in a pop-up error box that told me I had
a "runtime error" and asked if I wanted to debug it. Not knowing what the
heck to do with debugging, I simply canceled out opf the error message.
Logging onto the same websites with my desktop's Win98SE does not cause
runtime errors.

How do I get rid of them in his notebook XP? It can't be the websites since
simultaneous access with my Win98 PC did not cause them.

BTW, I had already checked the Tools-Options-Advanced tab and the box for
"Display a notification about every script error" was clear.
