runtime error

More than occassionally I get a runtime error while
viewing web pages with IE. I am asked if I want to
debug, and sometimes I select yes, but quite frankly, I
am completely clueless as to what I am doing. I accessed
Internet tools>advanced and found that I do not have
a "section" on microsoft virtual machine options. It
says I running IE 6.02. I am using XP pro and I am
guessing something went amiss in installation and I am
missing important java files or something. Any help you
all can give will be greatly appreciated.

Go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced.
Check the box to Disable script debugging.
Uncheck the box to Display a notification about every script error.
