I am trying to clear an error message on my screen that is
saying C:\Windows\Explorer.exe...Abnormal Program
Termination. I cannot get this to go away. It stays on
my desktop. What do I have to do to make it go away.

Thanks.

Hi,
Check for malware. Download and run CWShredder, Ad-aware and Spybot.
See: http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Also note the security tips and other important information on that page.

You should also update your antivirus program and run a system scan. You
might get a second opinion from an online scan at Kapersky, Trend Micro, RAV
or Panda. See: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Scanners.htm

Or...
A legitimate program running in the background may be causing this. Disable
(for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers, toolbars,
security,
anti-virus, etc. Look at any program that might be interfering with Internet
Explorer or Windows Explorer. You may have to reinstall, or not reinstall, a
program.

You don't identify the Operating System, but disabling non-essential
programs from MSCONFIG> Startup (followed by a restart) may identify the
problem program.

Hope this helps,
Don
