Runtime error

I just upgraded via SP2 for XP. Just before doing so, I saved several movie
project files that I was working on.

Now Movie Maker opens no problem, but when I try to open one of my project
files from last week, I get a Visual C++ Runtime Library error.

It says "Runtime Error"
Program: C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\moviemk.exe
"abnormal program termination".

I spent hours editing these files, and I know they were fine before SP2.

Can anyone suggest options? I have read several threads about going back to
2.0 version, but I have been unsuccessful in doing this. I don't wish to use
previous restore points, because I have spent hours in addition bringing all
drivers up to date.

Help please!!

Its good that you solved the problem but your solution suggests something is
fishy in the Studio 8 installer...

I do not had Studio but I studied another similar program recently that
renders a system useless after one uninstalls it. The problem there was in
unregistering DLLs. The installer registers its own version of some system
DLLs. This itself is a rogue action and results in all other programs being
forced to use this version even if there was a new version. However this
keeps the things going with some minor hiccups... But when the program is
uninstalled it unregisters its own DLLs which were now being used by
everyhting else. This makes everyhting else go crazy.

The resolution is not easy. One has to keep such a program installed in
order to use other programs as well. I would suggest to send a bug report to
the makers of Studio.
