I have been using Internet Explorer 6 for more then 2 years on both of my
computers with NO problems.

Yesterday, when I tried to open it on my second computer I got the following
error message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Rintime Error

Runtime Error!

Program C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

OK

If I click on the OK button, my desktop goes blank and I am forced to
sutdown the computer manually and restart.

Do I need to re-load the Internet Explorer software and if I do, will it
effect any of my other programming on the computer?

I should have mentioned that I am running Windows98 and that this computer
doesn't have Google installed on it??

Have you tried running the Repair option? You click Start | Settings |
Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, select Microsoft Internet Explorer,
click the Remove button, and then you'll see the Repair option. Afterwards,
you'll be prompted to reboot your PC. I haven't personally seen this issue
on 98, but obviously it exists. Please let us know if this helps.

also make sure you don't have both the Sun JRE and the Microsoft VM JIT
compiler enabled.
