Runtime error while trying to format a drive

I've read the various posts about runtime errors and none seem to help me as my problem is a bit different

I'm running Win2KPro with all updates current. Also I'm running the '04 Norton products but they're off. I've also gone into task manager and shut down everything that I can

I'm trying to format a Maxtor drive using Maxblast3. Each time I try, it pauses for about a minute, then get's it's act together and starts to format. Right as it's about done, I get the "Runtime error! Program: D:\Maxblast3.exe Abnormal program termination" message. And of course when I hit OK, the program shuts down

What should I be looking for, or do to stop this?

I appreciate any help I can get

The focus of this group is on developer issues and not end-user issues.

You may want to contact Maxtor.

Sorry. I read through all the messages that came up in my initial search and most of the questions were similiar to mine, except I was experiencing the problem only when trying to format a new drive with Maxtor's MaxBlast3 software

I figured this was still an Win2KPro problem as it would have been with MS outlook or IE

I've searched Maxtor's site and came up with butkiss. I'm a bit frustrated as I've not found anything in my google searches and now I've been shut down here as well

I get that.

You have not been shut down.

If anyone here knew how to answer your question you would have gotten a
reply. The people who frequent this group offer advice on developing
software, not on end-user problems.

You see the run-time error as a result of
an error in the software you use. If you
were developing this software in C++ and
would post the C++ source code causing the
error, you probably had a chance that we
would be able to help you to improve your
source code.
Since you are a user, you have to contact
the manufacturer of this software so they
can improve their software.
