I have 2 sign ons on my computer and am running Windows XP. When signed into
IE on one I cannot sign into IE or the control panel on the other. I have
uninstalled the google and Yahoo tollbars and run all manner of virus and
spyware cleaning softwear. I have also loaded the system back up CD to start
from scratch. Loading the system back up CD temporarily succeeds in allowing
everything to work properly. However the errors soon return.

Trying to access IE I get: Microsoft visual C++ Runtime Library.
Program:C:\program files\Internet explorer\iexplore.exe.
This application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the applications support team for more information.

Trying to access the control panel the error is the same except for:
C:WINDOWS\explorer.exe.

Someone PLEASE PLEASE help.

Try disabling the Anti-Phishing filter, and let me know if that does the
trick. In IE, go to Tools-> Manage Add-Ons, and disable the Anti-Phishing
filter.

Fantastic. Thank you very much indeed. That has solved a couple of weeks of
headaches. Thank you.

My pleasure. It worked for me too, and nobody else seems to know it. Glad I
could help.

I'm having the same trouble (see descriptions below)

I get this message immediately after trying to open/launch IE. The solution
does not work for me because IE never opens.

I'm running XP SP2.

I intalled IE 7beta but got the same problem, so I uninstalled. Next, tried
to install IE 6, but won't let me because "a newer version of IE is already
installed". I'm really stuck.

I can't reinstall XP SP2 without using IE.

I have firefox installed as a backup browser.

Help,
Ian

Hi,
The Google toolbar has been causing the C++ Runtime error recently. Try
uninstalling the Google toolbar from Control Panel> add/remove programs. You
may be able to reinstall it or you may have to wait for a newer version.

See:

If the Goodle toolbar isn't the culprit, another BHO, toolbar or add-on may
be. If running XP SP2, try IE> Tools> Manage add-ons. Disable third-party
add-ons to see if one of them is the culprit. You can also get to Manage
add-ons via Control Panel> Internet Options> Programs> Manage add-ons. If
not using SP2, try BHODemon
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3550.html and/or ToolbarCop:

Hope this helps,
