Whenever I am using Internet Explorer and click a link that is to a .pdf or
..doc file, Internet Explorer crashes giving the following error message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
"Runtime Error
Program:C:Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in a unusual
way. Please contact the application's support team for more infomation"

I do not have the google toolbar installed, or any other tool bar, and have
no idea how to fic this. It makes web browsing very frustrating, because if
I click on one page that has a .pdf or .doc, all of the open IE pages close.

Hi :-)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, but, try the
following and see if it helps:

You receive a "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in
an unusual way" error message when you run a custom Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0
program in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;884538&FR=1&PA=1&SD=HSCH

Runtime Library Microsoft Visual C++, Runtime Error Program
C:\Windows\Explorer.exe or Iexplore.exe, abnormal program termination.

also make sure you don't have both the Sun JRE and the Microsoft VM JIT
compiler enabled.

Disable the Script Debugger in IE

or.

Go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced.
Check the box to "Disable script debugging."
Uncheck the box to "Display a notification about every script error."
