I just installed SP-2 and am receiving the error message during bootup:
runservice.exe Application Error. The memory could not be "read." Any
ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.........

Hi,

Not sure though. I looks like you may have a bad section of RAM. If you
can take out the RAM chips one by one until the problem goes away.

Does this happen with specific program or all the programs ? Please
provide information.

Hope this helps ...... :)

SP2 has an option to kill any application which is attempting to execute
from well known memory addresses used by some viruses and malicious code.
Check this out:
Open System Properties
I think it was in: Advanced tab, Performance, Settings button, The Most
right tab.
I'm working on Win 2003 Server, so I can't be 100% sure, but I remember
there was something some there. I remember that it's not supported on my
CPU. Try to disable this future.

Hi Bobby,

This started happening to me once i upgraded to SP2 aswell.. It ha
nothing to do with your RAM.

It is a liscencing problem.. to stop this message from coming u
everytime windows starts, goto Start>Run>msconfig then under th
'services' tab untick the one named 'LicCtrl Service'... that worke
for me. The next time you boot up windows, it will say it is running i
a diagnostic mode (because youve made alterations to the boot file)
just tick the option that says to 'never notify you again'

hope that helps
