Running with admin credentials in XP Home ed

Is there a way to set specific programs to run with administrator credentials
in XP Home edition? My usb wireless adapter comes with its own s/w and wont
start/run unless the admin user logs in first (to get it to run). If a
limited user logs in first after a reboot, standby or hibernate it will not
run even though it's in their startup folder. I tried using "run as" but that
requires typing in the admin password each time. Is there a way to set the
"run as" permanently, so it runs transparently to the "limited user"? This
also would fix issues with other programs, such as my CD burner software that
seems to require admin rights to burn to disc. I don't want to make every
user an "administrator" account, I'd rather just give permission to run
specific things.

Hello;

If your CD-software is Nero then you should download a tool from Ahead
website that gives permissions on all users to use Nero.

My CD software is Nero and I found the updates you mentioned, thanks. That
fixes the issue for the Nero software, but I still have several others with
the same (i.e. wireless usb by Airlink, TurboTax by Intuit, MP3 player s/w by
Sony and others). Some of these specifically say "you must use admin account
on WinXP". I realize it is a shortcoming with the individual s/w but a
work-around would be nice. Is there a way to get at "group policy" on XP
Home, if only for the "limited user", is there a system file with the policy
settings for this account type that can be edited?
Thanks again

Hi

you may want to give our own NeoExec for Active Directory a go. We offer a
free license for up to 5 computers as long as is for personal use.

NeoExec allows you to set per-application policies and elevate (or restrict)
privileges as required.
