Running two instances of FP on my PC

I run a very large website (+32,000 pages) and most of the pages on there
use inserts so whenever I do an update, it takes ages to 'recalculate
hyperlinks'. Now, this isn't the problem, I know it *will* take a long time
to do that over so many pages.

What I'd like to be able to do is open up another copy of FP whilst this is
running in the background so I can do work with other webs. If I have two
instances of FP on the screen and one is recalculating hyperlinks, why is it
that I'm not allowed to do anything with the other web? Any action I take
doesn't occur until the work on the other web is complete, which is utterly
annoying.

I'm running FP 2002.

Thanks,

Mark

Because it is not design to work the way you would like it to.

Because it is not design to work the way you would like it to.

A statement that could possibly apply to every single piece of
software ever written. :)

You could even go as far as to say that it is designed to work the way
you would not like it to.

fido

Because there are never really 2 instances of FP running
- It is only 1 instance of FP running w/ 2 windows open (check your task manger)

IMHO
Any web w/ 32,000 pages is at least
A) a candidate for at least several FP subwebs,
and /or
B) a candidate for conversion to a DB and server side scripting w/ just several pages

| But why doesn't it allow it? Seems like a terrible limitation to me.

Okay.

Thanks for actually explaining that to me, Stefan.

As to the IMHO... I'm working on it! :)
