Is there a way that I could have in cell a2 a number and
everytime I changed that number it would keep a running
total going. Or do I have to use 2 cells? Help and
Thanks,

Dim oldVal

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)

On Error GoTo ws_exit:
Application.EnableEvents = False
If Not Intersect(Target, Me.Range("A1")) Is Nothing Then
With Target
.Value = .Value + oldVal
oldVal = .Value
End With
End If

ws_exit:
Application.EnableEvents = True
End Sub

'This is worksheet event code, which means that it needs to be
'placed in the appropriate worksheet code module, not a standard
'code module. To do this, right-click on the sheet tab, select
'the View Code option from the menu, and paste the code in.

right click sheet tab>view code>insert this. As written, works only on cell
A5

Option Explicit
Dim oldvalue As Double
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Excel.Range)
If Target.Address = "$A$5" Then
On Error GoTo fixit
Application.EnableEvents = False
If Target.Value = 0 Then oldvalue = 0
Target.Value = 1 * Target.Value + oldvalue
oldvalue = Target.Value
fixit:
Application.EnableEvents = True
End If
End Sub
