running total

i am working on a worksheet that i want to have a running
total, the only problem is that i have one cell that will
a number and change to another number, i can't find a way
to capture the previous number. for example i have cell
a2 that is 20 next dave a2 = 10 for a total of 30 for cell
a2

try using the $ sign in front of the number reference
