Running Sum

This seems so simple but I can't solve it. I have a report that groups a
schedule by part number (and sorts them in ascending order) and shows
detailed lines of factory schedules and customer orders. I would like a
total by part number to verify that sales and factory schedules balance
(sales quantities are negative for shipments).

When I place a text box in the part number footer bound to the report
quantity field and set to running sum over group I get a running sum over
all. If I change it to running sum over all, it gives the same answer.

The part number group has a header and footer by group showing. How do I
get a running sum just for the part number?
 
If you want to see the total for each item, in the text box that you created
in the Item footer, write in the ControlSource

=Sum([quantity field name])

Without the Running sum (set it back to No)
