Hello guys!
This is my problem.
My existing report looks like

case number
A 20
A 40

B 40
B 40

Total 140

I want to do a running Sum on number by group so it will look like

case number Totalby group
A 20
A 40 60

B 40
B 40 80

Total 140

I created a new text box and assigned control source to number. Then, chose
running sum to over group and this is what I get

case number Totalby group
A 20 20
A 40 60

B 40 40
B 40 80

Why am I getting this additional numbers. It looks like it is repeating the
top numbers on the column number, the 20 and 40.

Any ideas why?

Running sum is just that, a "running sum", it begins with the nothing plus
first number -- the sum of nothing and 20 is 20; the sum of nothing and 40
is 40. It is working exactly as it says it will.

If you want a total at the end of each Group, put it in the Group Footer,
not on the last line, as a Calculated Field:

=Sum([yourfieldnamehere])
