running slow

My computer is running very slowly when I open programs
like "add and remove programs" and "desktop
properties"etc. Can anyone help please?

I would start by doing a virus check, then perhaps checking for spyware etc.

Make sure you run the updaters on the spyware programs. Use both Ad-Aware and
Spybot. Make sure your virus definitons is also updated before running the scan.
