How do we know that the e-mails we receive from this site
in answer to our questions are from genuine people,
rather than the people who send pop ups themselves??

You don't.
However, if they simply send a link or offer friendly advice, then normally
that's fine.
It's when they sell you crap. Then you know they probably shouldn't be
listened to. heh
