Running scandisk with Symantec Antivirus

We are a public library with 5 XP (NOT SP2) PC's for internet access. It is
our policy to run scan disk on a periodic basis. Scandisk worked fine until
we installed Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition Version 9.0 on 3 of the
PC's. Now for those 3 scandisk will not run.

It says "would you like for scandisk to run the next time the PC reboots",
like always. But when we reboot the message comes up "cannot gain exclusive
access to the drive" and scan disk does not run.

Is there something I can disable on Symantec so scandisk will run?

Thanks

Hi Wayne,
Symantec tech support?
Sadly Symantec products do not seem to be as good as they once were.
Sorry not to be of more help.

Hi - just so you know, there's no scandisk in WinXP - it's chkdsk. And I
agree that you probably need to look at Symantec's support for this if it
works properly without the product installed/loaded.

& BTW - why no SP2? I strongly recommend you get it installed, esp. as these
are public terminals. Lots more security, etc., in SP2.
