When I run diagnostics I get "Internet Explorer Web Proxy - not configured" - am I supposed to do something with the web proxy? Diagnostic shows FAILED for network adapters, default gateway, DNS server, ethernet connection. Also, my PC doesn't seem to recognize my modem - D-LINK DSL 300G (purchased from Telus). What dre the steps I have to take to fix this up? Thanks.

"Network Diagnostics"? Where is that? What is that? Didn't find "network
diagnostic" in the Start->Help. No menu for it in the Network Connections
applet in Control Panel. Don't know what you ran.

The 300G isn't listed at www.dlink.com but there is a support page for it
showing a firmware update. If it is like the DSL-302 then it is an external
cable modem. So how did you connect the cable modem to your computer?
Through an RJ-45 cable to a NIC (network interface card) in your computer?
If using a NIC, your computer won't see the cable modem. It only sees your
NIC. Using a USB cable? If USB, did you install the driver for the cable
modem? Without the driver, your computer cannot recognize unknown hardware.

Under Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings, is a proxy configured for
use? If so, do you actually have a proxy running that these settings point
to?
