I've got a home network (domain) running 2000 server with 2 2000
clients. The server does not have a monitor hooked up to it and I
would like to run AD on the clients. I think I have heard of a way of
doing this but I am not sure exactly how. Probably an easy question
for someone out there!

Thanks

It is not possible to run AD on a WIN2000 Client. However, what you can do
is install the ADMINPAK on the WIN2000 Client. This will give you access to
the Administrative Tools that you would normally find on the DC ( ADUC,
ADSS, ADDT, etc. ). You just need to be logged on as someone with the right
credentials ( such as a member of the domain admins, etc. ) to have
access....

This is probably what you are looking for.

You should Terminal Serv into the Server preventing the
need for a monitor if you're trying to manage the Server
while maintaining a connection to the clients. IF you're
trying to administer the AD structure from a client
connection then Cary's suggesstion is the one to use.

IF you're trying to run a different AD structure from a
client machine you could investigate ADAM (Active
Directory Application Mode) which is used to test and
develop against an AD database without requiring a
Server, test lab, etc. There is a White Paper on
Microsoft's web page if you need it.
