On my old PP97 I could save a presentation as .pps and when I click on
the filename it would start up as a presentation.

On my PP2003 I cannot see the same thing. I can only start from the
editing page and click 'Start Slideshow' (or similar)

How can I launch straight into a slideshow?

Hi,

You should have the same option in 2003, by using the drop down file type
section in the Save As dialogue box. Else, rename the file extension to pps
and double click it. That should run as a slideshow.

Please tell us your PowerPoint / Windows version,
whether you are using vba, or
anything else relevant

Beyond Glen's excellent advice, you should also be able to right click the
file from Windows Explorer and select "Show". That will do what you want
also.
