When I run 7th Guest under XP (originally designed for DOS or Win 95), it
runs fine until I quit back to XP. I then get a video problem with the
screen having a "crazed look" and looking like it needs a refresh -
everything is unreadable with lots of vertical lines. Only solution is to
reboot. I've tried changing some of the compatibility settings, like using
Win 95 mode etc, but no joy.

Anyone got any ideas?

Have the same problem with a few programs. Don't have a solution. Games I
have include 7th Guest, 11th hour, and Tomb Raider 1, 2, 3 and sometimes 4.
Duke Nukem sometimes closes fine but majority of the time not.

But have found that I can get graphics back without reboot.

just change screen resolution.

Yes I know its difficult. I just right click on desktop and have remembered
keys needed to change screen resolution. To make it easier I change
resolution but 'apply' instead of 'ok' change. it changes - half the time I
still cant read it - but because I applied it - after 15 seconds it goes
back to what was - and it corrects itself at this point. Screen back to
original.

On other machine - is even easier - have dual graphics cards - before I
start game - I open display properties on other screen - which stays
readable. I suppose this isn't an option for most people. ;-)

have fun

Excellent advice - I've now set up a macro to change the screen resolution
through a single keystroke

Many thanks.
