Running 3 DVI monitors at once

A customer wants to run three LCD monitors preferably DVI, all showing the
same thing. He's a dentist and wants one for himself, one on the roof for
the patient when they're in the chair and another for in front of the
patient. DVI is not critical and I could run the the dentists monitor as DVI
and the others as analog but it would be preferable. I can run 2 dvi
monitors off the one video card but is there some way to run 3? Is there a
length limit for DVI as sometimes the cables get fairly long?

Thanks in advance

Check out the info at:

I'm sure they have something that will work for you.

Thanks for that, I might end up getting something like that if I can't get
the 3 x DVI idea going. I don't think they had a DVI splitter. Does anyone
know what happens if I put 2 vga cards in a computer, can I run
potentially 4 monitors with the same thing on each?
Here are a couple of actual DVI splitters, not that I have tried either one
of them.

Try a Google search using "DVI Splitter" with the quote marks and see if you
can locate what you are looking for. From what you describe the closest
examples that match your setup would be the class room type layout.

As for two monitor cards in a computer, it depends. Some operating systems
will allow for the use of two monitor cards, such as the latest versions of
XP and the higher speed motherboards.

It think it is usually up to the software of the program you are running to
display the same data to both cards or treat them as individual desktops.
Others here might be able to suggest the best method for using multiple
cards but they will most likely need to know what program or data you are
trying to display on duplicate internal cards.

Thanks, that is probably what I'll end up going with, the idea of 2 vga
cards seems like it could be problematic to me. I can just imagine getting
calls because one has stopped working etc etc. The DVI splitter will be a
much more reliable solution. It didn't ocurr to me that such a thing would
exist. The only down side will be a little extra clutter but their 3
existing surgeries have analog vga splitters anyway.

Thanks for you help,
Michael
