Running 19" wide screen displays for coding

My group is in the process of replacing desktop computers with laptops for
several developers for primarily .NET development. What we thought about
this morning was the possibility of using an external 19" wide screen
monitor.

My question: Anyone have experience using a 19" wide screen? Do you like it
or would you have preferred a regular 19" monitor?

Side note: Although I have not tried this myself I am thinking 1024x768 or
1152x864 for resolution, do not want text to small. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks for any input/advise!
Kevin

Hello (e-mail address removed),

Not widescreen, but dual-monitor are prefered.
1280x1024 is suitable for VS

but take into account that exactly 19" has the best view, coz 17" or 20"
has too small pixels and text looks ugly

Michael,

I forgot to mention that we want dual-monitors but budget may not permit it.

So 1280x1024 works, excellent!

Thanks for taking the time to provide me with this information, thanks!
Kevin
