I noticed a while back my computer takes forever (approximately 5-10 minutes)
to actually shut down. I didn't think much about it figuring it was doing
what it needed to do. Now, I turn on my computer 2 days ago and I always
click Outlook icon on my desk top as soon as it comes up. This particular
morning it didn't open. I thought ok, maybe I didn't double click the icon.
Well low and behold it opens about 5 minutes later and takes another 10
minutes to load. In the meantime, another Outlook is opening because I didnt
think I double clicked in the first place. Ok, so now I am at the point that
nothing is moving at all very fast. Literally takes 5-10 minutes for anything
to get done. I can eventually get to "My computer" and The control panel but
it takes forever. I have alot of memory so I don't think this is the problem.
I get to the point yesterday that I decide to do a system restore to a week
ago when I knew it was running ok. That worked!! It was running fast again. I
was a happy camper! UNTIL..... this morning when I turn the computer back on
and it started it's temper tantrum again!!! I have been 2 hours already
running a disk clean up and it's only at 95%. I just don't know what to do. I
seem to think that when the computer is off at night and I turn it on in the
morning, that's when it get's the updates and maybe something is going on
with that. I don't know what to check for to see that only what is needed is
running when it starts up. I would appreciate any suggests please. I am at my
wits end with this thing!
Thank you all!
