I have an Access db on a file server, I would like to run this remotely
from an XP client, however when I click on the file on off share I get
an warning about " The file is located outside your intranet on an
untrusted site, Access will not open the file due to potential security
problems". This is on my home network

If your server is a web server, see this KB article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;810582

There may be a few Access related issues here. If you ask this again in a
networking newsgroup, make sure you tell them what kind of a network it is
and whether you are running a domain or peer-to-peer network.

That said, first try splitting your database (There's a built in wizard:
Tools ... Database Utilities ... Database Splitter) then linking the tables.
Then take a copy of the newly split front-end and put it on your
workstation. Also check the Jet Service Pack that you are running. It may be
SP8 and you may have to adjust your security settings. If the error syill
doesn't stop when you open the new front-end file and/or adjust your
security settings, you'll need to contact one of the networking newsgroups.
