i have an installation of w2000 pro, and it won't allow me
to adjust my display, add/remove programs, add/remove
hardware. it says that i'm missing RUNDLL32.EXE, is there
any way to reestablish/reinstall this file. i've tried to
reinstall 2000pro, but this gives me a blue screen with a
kmode error, kernel missing or something? any help would
be great, it's very frustrating. is it better to reinstall
everything? if so, how?

Sounds like you have several problems if you can't reinstall Windows
2000 Pro. I would start by running SFC /scannow and see if it will
replace missing files. If that does not work then you can reinstall
Windows on top of itself by booting from CD. You boot from CD, choose
install, answer yes to the license agreement and then press R to repair
your current Windows. This is treated like an upgrade.
