rundll32.exe not found - Please someone help

Hi - I really need help with a major computer problem. When I started my
computer this morning and tried to open some applications (IE, Outlook etc) I
received the pop-up "Open with". I picked a program and then received the
following message:

c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe not found

I did a full scan using McAfee (which is the only program working) and it
came back clean. I can't do anything at this point, not even a system restore
because it won't open.

If someone could explain to me in the simplest of terms, how to fix this I
would really appreciate it. Also, if I do a system restore will it fix the
problem? Also, I received a driver utility & diagnostic disc when I brought
the computer - would this correct the problem?

Thanks - so I am looking for the .exe file association , right? Which will
take are of the rundll32.exe file?

I think this might be the right one because I looked in Explorer and all my
files are there for all the Office programs but not their exe files. Just
want to make sure because I'm not very computer savvy & technical.

Also, is this from a virus or a problem with my video adapter - could you
tell from what I descriped?
