rundll error

When I start up my computer I get the following error message
Rundll

Error loading c/windows/system32/pawxqkac.dll
the specified module could not be found.

What is this and how do I get rid of it. I cannot access the internet on my
computer because of this. Help.

Run A scan for both malware and viruses and also remove this entry from the
Start Up in registry Keys by using the Autoruns, you will find in one of the

I have Norton on my computer, so I just need to run that and also go to start
and then what?

"Error loading C:\Windows\System32\pawxqkac.dll"

Norton removed it and that's why it isn't found. But Norton didn't
remove the reference to it in the registry. Here's one way to remove it.

Click Start, Run, type REGEDIT, click OK. Press the Home key, press F3,
type the name of the file into the search pane. Click "Find Next", and
when located, delete the reference to the file. Press F3 to continue
the search.

You can click File, Export, and save the entry to the Desktop. If you
remove it and there's a problem, double-click the .reg file you exported
to the Desktop and it'll be added to the registry again. You can create
a restore point before editing the registry too.

This won't fix your inability to get on the internet though. Run
Norton, as you stated, and see if that helps.
 
I ran the Norton scan and everything was good. I went to start, run,
msconfig and found the file and disabled it. So now the error message is
gone, but when I go to start, run, command and then type in ping
www.yahoo.com, this error message comes up..

This is appartently what is keeping my internet from working. I know the
internet to my computer is working, but for some reason I cannot connect with

Can you get email? Is there an error message when you try to get email,
or go to a web site?

NETSH

Click Start, Run, type:

netsh winsock reset

Press Enter key

Restart the system

I didn't try the email, but there are no error messages when I try to go on
the interenet. It just says this page cannot be displayed. I even tried
microsoft.com and still nothing. I tried doing a system restore from an
earlier date, and then I turn the computer off, and it says system restore
didn't work. Now when I go there, there is no date in bold to restore it to.
I haven't had any problems with connecting to the internet until the other
day. It was working fine, and then it just quit.

Try the NETSH commands in my previous post.
I tried doing a system restore from an
earlier date, and then I turn the computer off, and it says system restore
didn't work. Now when I go there, there is no date in bold to restore it to.

I think you still infected, hence the command.com, you need to run a
thorough scan by following these steps:

Go through these Cleaning steps:
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

Okay, as soon as I can get a hold of my son at home, I will try what you told
me. One thing I think it might be, is a box kept popping up and I cannot
remeber what the contents were, but the options in the box said "something
(recommended) or Block. My son chose block, and I think that might be why we
cannot get on the internet. I don't know what he blocked.

Look through the firewall Exceptions list and maybe you can figure out
what needs to be unblocked.

Probably within the NIS controls, if you're using Norton's firewall. I
don't have the program, so can't steer you any better than that.

Have him type

netsh /?

... and see if there's a similar error message. If so, the path to the
file's folder isn't in the default path. In that case, have him type

CD C:\windows\system32 (Press Enter key)

netsh winsock reset (Press Enter key)

BTW, this is only available in XP. If you're using W98, or maybe W2k,
it may not be there. Try the link in that case. Still not there and
you're running XP? Try this first:

Click Start, Run, type SFC /SCANNOW, click OK. If any files are damaged
or missing, they'll be replaced. You may need to reboot afterwards so
damaged files will be replaced.
 
I tried all of that, and it didn't help. I also went into the firewall, and
I don't see anything that would be blocking it. I tried my email and it
doesn't work either. I tried to ping www.yahoo.com again, and I get the
following....

Inboundmailserver - Failed

It also says "socket error: 11004 - Error #0 x 800 ccc0d

I want my internet back. Help!!!!!!!
 
I did the netsh last night, and it didn't help. When I do the ipconfig, the
interenet address number is good, so the internet is coming into my computer.
When I do ping www.yahoo.com the following comes up...

If you can't get mail either, the Netsh command and lspfix utilities
won't help.

I finally got it fixed. First, I ran Norton, and it picked up an Adware and
removed it. Second, I ran sc/scannow and it fixed the corrupt file, and the
last thing I did was go into Norton, and unblock a few things that were
blocking my internet access, so thanks to all who helped me here. I did
everything on this list and then some. It's all fixed. Thanks.
