I am trying to remove a program from my C drive. When I click "Change/Remove"
from the "Add or Remove Programs" module, I get the following error message
titled RUNDLL: "Error loading
C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\engine\6\INTEL3~1\Ctor.dll The specified module
could not be found."

How can I fix this so that I can remove the program? It is taking up a lot
of space!

what is the program
you are trying to uninstall?

based on this:
http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=Ctor.dll&src=IE-SearchBox

that file that cannot be
found was somekind of
adware, possibly
associated to a
macrovision
product.

one option is boot into
safemode and simply
delete the parent folder
containing that program
if it cannot be uninstalled
from there.

then go to a subfolder
called c:\windows\prefetch
and delete all the files in it.

then before rebooting out
of safemode, initiate
a chkdsk.

Unfortunately, I can't! The disk for the program has broken - that's the
primary reason I'm trying to unistall it

It is a game

I'm not very savvy when it comes to computers... is there an easy way to
describe this process?

in safemode windows
does not load non microsoft
software. for ease of explanation
consider windows in safemode
pure microsoft.

so in this environment non
microsoft components that
would force themselves
to load in windows normal
mode are denied that luxury.

so in safemode you have
power to do things.

to boot into safemode,
reboot your system and
immediately begin
tapping the f8 key.

at the boot menu select
safemode.

when windows loads you
can try the add/remove programs
again.

if there are no entries in add/remove
programs, then go to my computer
and delete the parent folder where
the files for that game are installed.

afterwards, drill towards the
windows system folders and
find prefetch.

in this folder there will be
numerous files and you can
delete them all. windows
will rebuild the prefetch.

then reboot into normal
mode and see if your back
to normal again.
