Runaway cooling fan

A friend has an Optiplex 755 and one of the cooling fans runs
constantly.

System Information for Windows shows normal CPU and hard drive
temperatures.

I ended one process that was using a lot of the CPU, but nothing
changed.

Any other things I can look at?

Thanks.

That is a small form factor. I think it has a cpu, hdd, and PS fan.

Found the problem.

It was a program called TeaTimer.exe that comes with Spybot.

The program is supposed to provide real time protection.

Seriously excessively use of the CPU.

Now, the computer is very quiet.

Seriously? They still haven't fixed that? I'm thinking it was 3 years
ago when I removed that crap from my mom's machine after complaints that
it was running slow, TeaTimer was using 50% of her CPU and 40% of her
RAM.

It's like they want to be Symantec :/

Reckin' not. :-)

A friend told me of a funny incident.

There was a card taped on a wall that said, "The worst most dangerous
virus."

When you opened the card, it had a picture of someone that was always
fooling with the company computer.

:-)

Take care,
Andy

I run teatimer, and it toggles between 0 and 3 % processor use.
Intel Celeron 2.6ghz.
