the run command line in the start menu is gone. What did I
do.

Try this. Right click on Task Bar / Properties / Start Menu / Customize /
Advanced / Start Menu Items / recheck Run Command. Sure don't know why these
things disappear. Jym

If you add too many items to the start menu "Run" gets pushed off.
