Run away IE

My IE will automatically start searching without starting
the program. It will go to approximately 6-8 sites, have
pop ups and then eventually create an error and shut down
IE. This happens all the time. I do not encounter this
problem when I us MSN Explorer to access the internet. Is
this a virus or is it a pop up problem? Also, looking for
a good anti-pop up software.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
