OK- This could be very easy - but somehow I am oissing the point. I have
burned a .pps show (not the .ppt file) to a CD-ROM as part of a training CD.
The CD auto runs on insertion to the laptop and opens a browser web page
that has a link to the .pps file. IE propmts me at this time to "Save" the
file instead of also giving me an option to run from the source. There are
links in the presentation that need to link to documents on the CD and I
would rather not go through the process of having everyone copying the
contents of the CD to their hard drive somewhere.

Is it possible to run a .pps show from CD-ROM or doe sthe slideshow need to
be copied locelly in order to be run on the computer? When I link to just
the .ppt file - I am prompted to run or save - and running it opens
Powerpoint fine.

Thanks,

The web page involved has other selections - links to other documents on
the
CD that I would like them to have the option to select, along with the
ability to run the slide show. Since my last post I have been able to
create an autorun CD that automatically runs the slideshow with all links in
the show working properly. This will work as a solution, but I forfeit the
ability to present a "table of contents", if you will, form the web page.

Not a dumb question - hopefully not a dumb answer.

A better answer than my question. Thanks. ;-)

This may shed more light on it - I think the fundamental problem is that
what the browser does with PPT and other such files is a setting that's
local to the user/computer/browser, not something that's controlled in HTML.

Control how the browser opens PowerPoint files

The table of contents could be another brief presentation with links to
other files on the CD. Doesn't need to be HTML.
