run 98 defrag in xp?

The thorough, slow, complete defragmenter in Win 98 was maybe not as
thorough as the defrag screen suggested.. what it showed was a
representation of defrag.. the essence of defrag is not to pile everything
up at one end of the drive, but to join back fragmented pieces of file.. XP
defrag does a reasonable job of this..

Win 98 defragmenter is not available to XP.. if you want something more than
what is offered, look to purchasing Diskeeper or PerfectDisk..
 
Use Windows XP's defrag. The Windows 98 one
is not designed for use with XP.

been using diskeeper for years and find it great, also runs in the background
and doesnt slow the system down that much, i would highly recommend it...pete
