I have a pent2 overclocked @400mhz with 556 megs of ram.. it runs just one
program for a vinyl cutter and the newest version requires win2k... can i
successfully load/run 2k pro on this older computer/processor.
Any suggestion how to accomplish this will be appreciated

I tried to put Win2K on a Compaq 300mhz P2 but Win2K didn't like the BIOS so
I didn't continue. Then successfully put it on a 450mhz P3(Abit). M$ has a
Win2K hardware compatability list, you might try looking at. Win2K can be
setup to dualboot with older O/Ss from a seperate partition. If you already
have seperate partitions that makes it fairly painless to try.

If you already have Windows 95 or 98 installed, you can create another
partition if one does not already exist. Install Windows 2000 to this
partition. A third party utility like Partition Magic may be required to
resize you existing partition(s). **Back up your data first**

I have W2K running fine on PII 350 and PII400s.

Out of interest which vinyl cutting package are you using ? I have the
latest Graphix advantage running fine on W98 IBM Laptop with a 333 CPU and
128MB Ram. For the vinyl cutting this Laptop (nothing else loaded at all)
has run beautifully for months with not one crash.

Hope this helps
