On the Rules Wizard - there's a box for "Apply changes to
this folder" - It is currently set for "Inbox
[postoffice.worldnet.att.net]. I have set up some rules
for it to filter email and not let email through that has
words in them like sex, viagra, etc. The emails are still
coming through. The email address I use ends with att.net
rather than worldnet.att.net - but I do still get email
from the one worldnet.att.net. There is not an option to
add the one for att.net. Is this the reason the emails
are still getting through or is there something I missed?
As far as I can tell I have the rules set correctly. Hope
someone can help. Thank you.

There's something about a lot of these types of junk messages where Outlook
does not see any message text for the Rules Wizard to check. If you haven't
already, try setting the "Current view" for your Inbox to "Messages with
AutoPreview" (Note: This is not the same as "Preview Pane" on the View
menu).

With this feature on, headers (i.e., To, From, Subject, etc.) for new
messages in the Inbox all appear in bold, and the first three lines of the
message appear in blue text immediately below the header line. Your rules
should work fine on these types of messages because Outlook "sees" the text
in the message.

But you may also see new messages where the first three lines of the message
text DO NOT appear in blue immediately below the header line. The Rules
Wizard cannot "see" the text in the message and cannot do its thing: somehow
the sender is able to spoof the message text somehow that it fools Outlook.
The weird thing is that when you open one of these types of messages, it
often looks like standard text, usually with bold or colored fonts, etc. -
you can grab it with a mouse, cut and paste it, etc. Other times there is
no text at all - just graphics which may "look" like text - and the rules
are again useless.

What Outlook needs is a rule like "if no message text appears when viewed in
Messages with AutoPreview mode, delete that sucker". If you can come up
with a rule to auto-delete these, you'll be a hero!

CJ,
Great Ideal...hope someone from MS reads your suggestion.
