Do rules function differently when Outlook is configured
for 'Workgroups' than for configurated for 'Internet
Only'? I have rules set up to direct email into different
folders, with the final 'resting place' being up to 3
layers deep in some cases (with sub folders within other
folders). Using 'Internet Only' configuration, the email
will get directed to the correct folder, the folder tree
(+) will expand to reveal the exact highlited folder that
has the message. When I reconfigure for 'workgroups', the
mail gets to the folder but the tree doesn't expand and
the final location of the message is not highlighted. So
I know I have a message by the icon in the tray, but have
no idea where to find it.

No, they should not. However, if using Exchange with a CW installation, you
get more options with rules.

Well, for some reason it seems that if the end location of
the rule is 2nd or 3rd level deep, it does not expand and
show the highlighted new email when configured to work
group. I am running XP, not on a network, and do not
see 'exchange' installed. I know that a couple of years
ago I tried the same thing, had 98 and exchange and had
the same problem.

Is it possible that the rules have to be generated while
configured as work group rather than just 'reconfigure'
after they were defined as 'internet only'?

Another annoyance that I have had and complained to
Microsoft about, is that whenever I configure either way
(internet only -> work group or reverse) I have to go into
rules wizard and redefine everything past the 1st part of
the rule. All of them. The rule will be there in name,
and the first action correct, however the 2nd step of the
rule will be in a configuration as if I was just building
the rule and had yet to specify the 2nd step.

Same thing happens if I 'import' a saved rule.
