Vista Windows Mail. I have applied rules for incoming mail, but want sent
mail to be moved to specific folders immediately they are sent. How do I
apply the rule?

You must apply it manually. Rules are only applied automatically to
incoming mail.

You say 'apply it manually', is that drag it into the correct folder each
time. Or is there a way I can write a macro so that it happens automatically.

Tools | Message Rules | Mail | select the Rule | select the folder on which
you want the Rule to run | press Apply button.

That has to be done each time. The rule is not a permanent one. It is
quicker to right click and move to folder. I was hoping there was something
similar to the incoming mail. Anyway thanks for helping
