Rules don't work if .pst accessed from the server

Hello

On our network each user uses outlook for email. The outlook.pst file were stored on their own workstation. We upgraded our server from NT to 2003 standard edition. We transfered all the .pst files to the server from the each workstation. Now each user uses the .pst file fromt the server for their outlook. This helps a central location for management and storage

But by doing this the rules set up in the outlook(through rules wizard) by users don't work any more. They give an error saying that need to define the undelined value. I am selecting the folder where I want certain emails to go in the rules but it would still give me the same error saying that all the values are not defined. I tried to create new rules and in that too it would give me same error. Anybody know why it does that. I am using Microsoft office 2000 and the OS are Windows 98

Thanks

Although the pst-files were never designed for to be stored on a
networkshare it should work.

How did you migrate? Did the users need to create a new Outlook profile
after the migration? Are you using Exchange as well?

You will need to repoint all the folders the rules specify to the new
location. You may need to create a new mail profile - but again, to repeat
what Roady wrote, note that MS does not recommend or support accessing PST
files on a mapped network drive - you will have performance problems and
perhaps also data corruption.
