RTM?

Right now we have two opposing and extremely powerful forces.

1) Jim Allchin who has said RTM is not happening Wednesday--repeatedly. It
has been said that Mr. Allchin could change the Vista start button to a
picture of his dog if he so desired. Jim trained at Georgia Tech for his
PhD in Computer Science.

2) Jim Allchin's Boss Kevin Pansky, Windows Platform Mogol FYI who says it
is. Kevin trained on Grand Theft Auto San Andreas extensively FYI and wrote
his thesis in the use of a car trunk during these scenarios FYI.

It's my understanding that at noon today Redmond time, a mud wrestling event
will take place between Allchin and Pansky to determine which course is
being stayed.

There are however, dress rehearsals for the Vista RTM parties taking place
and you can view them here:

Good luck and enjoy the RTM to the fullest--have a joint Madame Speaker
First Woman Speaker of the House in the History of US RTM Tea Partay and
Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray from Washington State keep stayin'
the course with none of your family there--it's rockin' and very successful
in Iraq--83 US soldiers down this month as of this morning. Rock on.

Chad, are you in the Microsoft Connect Beta? If so, have you read all the
Posts in the Private Beta Newsgroups? RTM may very well happen today,
according to the Beta Tester's who attended today's Private Chat with the
Windows Vista Beta Team, Just FYI. I did not attend the Chat, so I don't
know what exactly Microsoft said in the Chat, but some Beta Tester's are
already giving their Thank You Statement's to Microsoft, Just FYI.

I won't be one giving thank you statements to MSFT Kev. And much of what is
posted in the TBT particularly on Cafe and General is loose, baseless and
quite childish speculation with a lot of "Mommy Mommy Wendy Pulleasse"
"Daddy Daddy Paul Pulllease" give us new builds even though we do nothing
to improve them and you do little to respond to our bugs. I do a lot of
support for their customers because they profer the cheap horribly worthless
support of outsourced jobs by Convergys of Ohio to their customers so I
think they owe me one hell of a big thank you note and some substantive
money.

What's much more important is that most of us who know Vista can name
significant component after component that has been shipped broken by tin
ears who won't or can't fix them.

I rarely see you post on those kinds of issues. I don't see many Kevin
Pansky how to install Vistas but I see a lot of "shhhhhh and obsessions
about so-called NDAs", and secrecy agreements and crap that amounts to
little when contrasted to the quality of the OS.

MSFT isn't a bit worried on the NDA level about propitiary info getting out
there. By the time any build Betas, and long before in some cases, a
similar build has been circulated to a number of companies who have to
develop software around it. That means there is not a substantive credible
excuse for why so many companies have lagged in providing driver support for
devices in Vista and particularly in Vista 64 bit, nor why so many companies
have lagged in providing products that will work with Vista as in contrast
Raxco and their File System MVP Director has with Perfect Disk for Vista.

Chad, I used both RC2 and Long Horn Server Build 5744 (after its Accidental
Release on MS Connect) for almost one full month and had Zero Major Issues
with the Products. No BSOD's, NVIDIA RC2 Video Driver works just fine (which
fixed the issue with looseing Aero Glass while using the NVIDIA RC1 Driver),
Creative Sound Blaster X-FI RC1 Driver works just fine as well, No Hardware
Issues of any kind, Just FYI.

P.S. Nero 7.0 now works just fine on RC2 as well, Daemon Tools Issue from
Build 5728 is Fixed as Well, Avast 4.7 works just fine as well, the only
software I have that doesn't work is MSN Premium Edition 9.2 (which may be
going Bye-Bye Anyways as Microsoft continues to swap out the MSN Label for
the Windows Live Label).

I'll have to disagree with you on this comment. I've submitted many bugs
only to have them closed by Microsoft as Won't Fix, Not Reproducible, By
Design, or Closed. Not impressed with Microsoft's bug reporting process
personally.

Adam,
bugs are also known as 'undocumented features'.

How did you find this out? My biggest gripe with the system is that I
cannot see the status of even my own bug reports. And I have never
received any feedback on any of them.

So the only way I have to find out if they have been fixed is to keep
downloading, burning and installing the latest version.

When they change the status of my bug report, it e-mails me. I then go to
Connect and click on Feedback and there it is.
