When I okpen My Computer, it shows hundreds of .rtf files, along with
regular files. Do I need them? and how do I get rid of them?

Bill

Do you want them, they are your files. We have no idea if you want your data or not.

mabye this will help ...

An RTF (Rich Text Format) file is an ordinary word processor file
which can be opened in virtually any word processor.

Thank you both. I opened one of the .rtf files and found it to be a
page of a 600 page document, whcih I had scanned into my word
processer. Now the manuscript is both in the My Computer .rtf files
and in my Microsoft Word file. I assume I can delete allthe rtf files.
Any comments.
Thanks again,

Bill

If the names seem similar then yes. Else check.
