Hello,
I did a little research over the last couple of days about RSS. I use
it widely for updating of news articles and various things like that.
It made me wonder if it is practical to use RSS within my company to
use it for monitoring.
Example:
Lets say my app performs a certain task and 5 people want an update
when this occurs or any other type of notifcation by the app.
Currently, we would do this with a notification email, but i'm
wondering if this would be more plausible with RSS feeds. I suppose I
would need a small "notifier" application to install on the clients,
and then these notifier apps would poll the RSS feed every x minutes
and the app would update the RSS feed when said task occurs.
Is this that someone is using in their current business? I am curious
as to how effective it is and whether it is something i should look
into implementing.
