RSS Feeds alert in Outlook 2007

Hi,

I am loving Office 2007, the Outlook RSS feeds being one particulary great
feature.

Is it possible to be alerted to new RSS notices arriving in folders, similar
to alerts you get for new e-mail?

Thanks

Hello,

you could create a rule ("Tools" - "Rules and Alerts"):
"Check messages when they arrive"
condition(s): from any RSS Feed
action(s): display a Deskttop alert

Hi Roman,

Problem is I'm not using Exchange and access my RSS Feeds folder through
Personal Folders. When I go to to Rules and Alerts all the options on the
Rules tab are greyed out.

I think maybe it can't be done, but I just wanted to check.

Thanks

Hello,

that's strange because Exchange is not required for the usage of rules.
You do not have the option to create any new rules in "Rules and Alerts"?

No I don't.

It could be because, as well as my Personal Folders, I access my Hotmail
account thorugh Outlook. When I go to Rules and Alerts I see a warning
message "Messages sent and received using HTTP accounts cannot be filtered
using Outlook rules. If server-based message filtering is available, your
e-mail service provider can tell you how to provide it.". Presumably, this is
referring to my Hotmail account (which I'm not bothered about having alerts
for) and maybe it is causing Rules and alerts to be greyed out.

Btw, I see this message even if I have Personal Folders selected when I go
to Rules and Alerts.
