Help....I have deleted and reconfigured RRAS many times now..
I am able to authenticate a VPN session on the local LAN only

RRAS configuration fails with the following errors
"...Remote Access Policy not found..
and "...File not found..

The service looks to be available, and local VPN connections are successful

If a client tries to connect from outside the firewall (which appears functional to port scans, and connectivity
the following occurs:
Client gets to the "Authenticating User and Password" pop-up....and then that is all..

The Windows 2000 Server shows this warning in the System Event Log
Warning ID#20064 Disconnected user on port VPN1-13 due to authentication did not occur within time alloted..

Any help would be much appreciated..

Try http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];824301 This
pain-in-the-ass bug broke all of our remote access users when SP4 was
installed. We never got the errors in the KB article but the patch fixed it
immediately. This huge defect affects anyone using scripting and dial-up.
Why it's not on WindowsUpdate is beyond me!

Gil,

I have the same issue. Were you able to figure out? I got
the hotfix and installed it.But it does not seem to be
helping.
