I followed the instructions for th eisa deploymetn kit.

I am able to authenticate to the vpn server, but cannot go any futher.
Cannot ping or telnet any pc or server on the local lan.

Did I miss something that should hav been done? any tips?

by the way no wins, or internal dns. ALso I see when I enable ip routing
in isa, no one can send smtp mail any more. Ithangs in the queue, i
disable it and it is fine.

thanks

You have probably answered your own question. If you are not running
wins or local dns, you will only be able to access LAn machines by their IP
address. VPN connections do not carry LAN broadcasts.

If you can ping a LAN machine by its IP address from the remote client,
the VPN connection is working. To use names, you will need HOSTS or LMHOSTS
files on the clients with entries for all LAN machines you want to connect
to by name.

unable to ping or telnet.
does it matter that the local lan is 192.168.1.*
and home is 192.168.1.*

is this the problem?

Yes, that certainly is a problem. Nothing will go over the link if both
sides use the same IP subnet.
