I get this error message and my computer shuts down after a minute. I checked these messages and found that everyone stated that this was the blaster worm. Well, I went to the sites that several of you have seggested and each one of them stated that I did not have the blaster worm. What do I do now?

Also for some unknown reason I keep loosing my Cable internet? Sometimes when I go to log on to the internet there will be no service. It can not locate the usb port that my cable modem is connected to. When this happens I have had to do a complete restore and reinstall my cable usb every time. I no longer can use my installation disk that came with my cable modem. I have to let Windows XP find the hardware and go from there, but so far nothing has worked to where I can stay online? My cable modem worked fine with my windows 98 computer and since I have gotten this new one with Windows XP I am having nothing but problems. As you can see I'm new to the XP world and need help. Please? Thank you in advance.

First of all... when you say use have to use restore and reinstall you mean by add/remove prgrams, right? Restoring the computer with the restore to fix errors causes even more errors. To safely remove programs use the add/remove programs in the control panel. The System Recovery restores settings back to factory settings and loses important files and programs that you put in or downloaded and is only used for major repairs. Second call your cable provider and ask for a new CD to install and fix your internet connections if the CD you have doesn't work. And when you say CD doesn't work, do you mean automatically? You can always use start>run>yourcd drive letter:/ setup. exe or open the folder on the cd drive in your "my computer folder" and clicking on the setup.exe in that installation folder. Insert your cd into computer if it doesn't work... START>MY COMPUTER>DOUBLE-CLICK THE CD DRIVE FOLDER TO OPEN THE CD'S FOLDER LOOK FOR SETUP.EXE AND 2X CLICK ON IT OR THAT DOESNT WORK CLICK ON THE READ ME FILE FOR TROUBLESHOOTING ANSWERS FOR KNOWN ISSUES.
BEST PLACE TO GET HELP IS TO CALL YOUR PROVIDER OVER THE PHONE AND GET STEP BY STEP HELP BEFORE YOU MESS WITH FILES AND FOLDERS...

What I mean when I say my CD doesn't work is that when I try to download my cable modem it says "can not find usb port" when I know I have it installed or it will download "unkown device" and it still won't work. There is nothing to uninstall. For some reason after my computer does the restarting several times with the RPC problem it wipes out everything to my cable modem and leaves nothing to uninstall so I tried reinstalling with my disk it only gets to where it asks for USB or Ethernet and mine is USB (I don't have Ethernet connection on my computer? ) and then it states that it can not detect the USB. So now when I install I use the find new device on my computer and don't even use my installation disk.

Problem is I don't know why I keep getting the RPC error and why is it wiping out my cable modem? It doesn't seem to be deleting anything else. Doing a complete restore is the only way I have found so far to be able to reinstall my USB for my cable modem. Like I said I am new to this whole XP thing and everything worked fine on my old computer.

Please any help would be appreciated.
