When I connect to internet, my pc gives an error saying
that RPC (remote procedure call) service terminated
unexpectedly and the computer shuts down. Anybody knows
why this occurs and how can I fix it?

I have Windows XP and the error comes from NT/authority
thanks,

Hello

See below
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.html

If anyone as a problem keeping there system up long enough to remove the

virus try this first, you may have to be quick!
To end the Trojan process:
1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete once.
2. Click Task Manager.
3. Click the Processes tab.
4. Double-click the Image Name column header to alphabetically sort the
processes.
5. Scroll down the list and look for msblast.exe.
6. If you find the file, click it, and then click End Process.
7. Exit the Task Manager.

You are infected with the RPC related virus that is going
around. Goto microsoft website and download the fix for
MS03-026 issue. install the fix. Then goto symantec's
website and download the tool to remove the msblast virus
from you system.

HINT: when you get the message that the system will shut
down in 60 sec. Open a dos command prompt and type:

shutdown -a

this command will abort the shutdown.
