Earlier today, I recieved the infamous "NT
AUTHORITY/SYSTEM" failure. It gave me 60 seconds and read
Remote Procedure Call service was terminated.

It happens every time I go online with my firewall
installed. Firewalls cause obvious problems within
themselves, so I'm hoping to remedy this as soon as
possible.

I have not downloaded anything over the past week, yet
this problem happened for the first time today. So, I'm
not certain what started it.

I did download the patch posted previously, "HOW TO FIX
RDC!!! READ!!!" But when I tried to open it, I got the
message: "XPSP1HFM.EXE is not a valid WIN32 APPLICATION."

Any thoughts at all? I'm really getting frustrated.
Thanks.

Amee;
Go back and get the 32 bit patch.
It sounds like yo got the 64 bit patch.

To fix problem:
You most likely have a worm W32.Blaster.Worm
DISCONNECT the subject computer from any network IMMEDIATELY.

Install or enable a firewall IMMEDIATELY:

VERY IMPORTANT to repair, closing ports is NOT enough.
Download the appropriate patch referenced in Ron Martessl article
below.
You may need to do this at an uninfected computer and burn to CD or
save on floppy.

This is the IMPORTANT fix by Ron Martell:

After this is resolved prevent similar occurrences by installing ALL
Critical Updates from Windows Update.
Keep antivirus up to date and run at least weekly.
Install or enable a firewall.
